This week we’re talking about Groucho Sports, a sports supply company based in Minneapolis.
Groucho doesn’t do sales out of a brick-and-mortar location, but they have a great online store with offerings from T-shirts to bike jerseys to water bottles. Their gear is visually diverse: some items simply contain the company’s logo, while others contain bright and fairly ornate designs. They even do custom gear!
Not only is Groucho committed to providing quality gear for cyclists, they are committed to growing a culture of cycling. They have a blog with influential writers from across the bicycling scene. The Groucho team consists of Amber Carter, David Urbaniak, and Jeff Tietz. The founders are all midwesterners now living in the Twin Cities, and they’re all big fans of biking themselves — they’ve sponsored both Northeast Ride (yaaay, three cheers!!) and 30 Days of Biking, in addition to other awesome events.
Groucho is a new company, and this is an important feature. They emphasize their flexibility in how they move forward, responding to what the community wants. They’re open to collaboration with designers and new dealers. They’ve got a line out now, but they’re continuing to grow and change as they move forward. We’re excited to see where they go next!
