Happy New Year NE Ride supporters!
(Or since it’s February – should I say Happy Groundhog’s Day?) Anyway – I’m signing on to give you a few updates. Just because we’ve been quiet doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy!
Unfortunately our Kickstarter effort of 2011 was not successful…but we’ve been working hard to build partnerships and gain sponsorships to make this ride happen! We think the NE Ride is a great idea and so do over 300 friends and facebook followers, and we were bound and determined to make it happen. So for the past few months we’ve been working hard – so much that we’re confident this ride is a go for June 2nd. But more on that later… First and foremost:
One of the best and most exciting updates about the Northeast Ride (in my opinion) is the addition of Amber Collett to our planning team! Amber is a community organizer and has worked as a communications/fundraising specialist with Green Corps, the Minnesota Public Interest Research Group (MPIRG), Transit for Livable Communities, and Bike Walk Twin Cities. She’s signed on as our Event Specialist and her work over the past month has been instrumental.
With that, I’ll turn this post over to her…
Hi everyone, Amber here! I’ve had a busy first month with the Northeast Ride and I’m excited to continue to reach out to our partners and supporters to make this ride a success. Keep checking our web site and blog for updates.
One big development this month has been the route! We have a draft route that goes through all 13 neighborhoods of Northeast Minneapolis with creative stops sponsored by our neighborhood associations and local businesses. (More to come on that later…!) Stay tuned for information about the NE Ride Launch Party in early March where we’ll be revealing the final route!
In the meantime, if you have questions, don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com
See you on the road!
