The 2014 NORTHEAST RIDE!

The third annual NE Ride is happening on Saturday, June 14th! We at the Northeast CDC are excited to be organizing the ride again, and we hope that this year’s ride will be even bigger and better than last year! Registration is open RIGHT NOW and we are still currently looking for volunteers and sponsors.

2014 Northeast Calendar Contest!

Submissions for the 2014 Northeast Calendar Contest are open NOW!

You can submit up to 15 images (photography, paintings, drawings, graphic art, etc.) — one for each NE Minneapolis neighborhood and one for the cover. Help represent Northeast Minneapolis’ unique neighborhoods and win a spot in the calendar AND cash prizes!

THE DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 1st!

NEighbors Sale Weekend

Mark your calendars and start cleaning out your closets! The NEighbors Sale Weekend is coming up Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th.

What is it exactly? It’s a weekend of garage and yard sales across six of the neighborhoods in Northeast Minneapolis. Over 150+ sales are anticipated for this year. Neighborhoods included are Audubon Park, Columbia Park, Holland, Marshall Terrace, Waite Park and Windom Park. Households and businesses in the participating neighborhoods can register their sale at the Eastside Co-op or at windompark.org and will be included on the sale map/directory.

THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS MAY 1st

The registration fee is $10 ($8 for Eastside Co-op members). Sale maps will be available the week prior to the sale at the Eastside Co-op and other area businesses, and also at windompark.org. Save your map for special offers throughout May at area businesses.

Mid City Industrial Neighborhood Group was formed in 2010 and is composed of small, medium and large companies in the Mid-City Industrial area. What will be the first image to represent this area?

Northeast Calendar Category 14: Windom Park

Windom Park

The Windom Park neighborhood is named after William Windom, who served from the mid- to late 1800s as a United States senator from Minnesota and as secretary of the U.S. Department of Treasury. Windom Park borders the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District, and is home to many of the area’s participating artists.

Northeast Calendar Category 13: Waite Park

Waite Park

Waite Park was named for Edward Foote Waite, judge of the District Court of Hennepin County from 1911 to 1941. Featuring beautiful homes and gardens, including a volunteer managed community garden, Waite Park also sits along the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway.

Northeast Calendar Category 12: St. Anthony West

ST. Anthony West

 

Historic St. Anthony West is located on the Mississippi riverfront. It is just a short walk from the heart of downtown Minneapolis. The neighborhood is home to several landmark riverfront revival efforts, including B.F. Nelson Park and Boom Island Park, as well as the Ukrainian Event Center and numerous churches.

“Boom Island Tree” by Amy F. Conger was featured in 2012. What will be the featured image for 2013?

Northeast Calendar Category 11: St. Anthony East

St. Anthony East

 

Named after the St. Anthony waterfall, “the true founder of the city,” the St. Anthony East Neighborhood is known for it’s beautiful churches and homes. It is also home to the annual Northeast Farmers Market, and the Summer Street community garden.

 

St. Anthony East’s 2012 page featured “No Place On Earth Like This” by Bjorn Christianson, with an image of Amy Toscani’s art. What’s going to represent St. Anthony East in 2013?

Northeast Park is not only home to the very active Quarry shopping center, it’s also the home of the Jim Lupient Water Park.
